Herb-Simmered Beef Stew

  2 pounds beef for stew,cut into 1 inch pieces
ground pepper
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cups thickly sliced mushrooms
3 cloves of garlic,minced
1/2 teaspoon each dried marjoram,thyme,rosemary leaves,crushed or 1 1/2 teaspoon each chopped fresh majoram,thyme and rosemary
1 bay leaf
1 can beef broth
3 cups fresh or frozen baby carrots
12 whole baby red skinned potatoes,with a strip of peel removed in center
  Instructions
  Sprinkle beef with black pepper and coat with flour.
Heat oil in saucepan medium-high heat.
Add beef and cook until browned,stirring often.
Add mushrooms,garlic,herbs,and bay leaf and cook until mushroons are tender and liquid is evaporated.
Add broth. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over a low heat 45 minutes.
Add carrots and potatoes. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 30 minutes or until beef is fork-tender. Remove bay leaf.
